The Farmer’s Almanac and Hamilton’s Pam Price agree — your wish might come true

The Old Farmer's Almanac tells us that we’ll be able to spot a total eclipse of the moon in late October next year. It also advises to plant your early peas between April 19 and May 4 to take advantage of the favorable moon cycle. Exterior Stonework Progesses as Workers begin Interior Work

Construction of Hamilton's new 192,000-square-foot, $56-million science center is on budget and on schedule, said Douglas A. Weldon, Stone Professor of Psychology and science curriculum and facilities coordinator. Weldon reported that all the flights of stairs have now been installed, and that the stairwells resemble mini-Atriums. These are often referred to by the project coordinators as "Atriettes" because of their spacious, wall-less design that relies in part on the open design for lighting. Bill Huggins, assistant director of construction, added, "At this point in the construction, the building is nearly water tight – most of the roof has been completed and we’ve been working hard to get the windows installed. With more than 80 contractors working diligently on a daily basis things are happening fast." More ...
Employees' Children Invited to Annual Trust Treat The Newman Council, sponsors of Trust Treat, invite Hamilton employees and their children to this year's annual event on Halloween night (Friday, Oct. 31). Trust Treat was started in memory of Eric Trust '92, who died on Halloween Day his freshman year at Hamilton. The Newman Council brings about 200 kids from the Utica area, as well as the children of faculty, staff, and employees, to campus and provides them with a fun and safe environment in which they may go trick-or-treating. They are brought by student tour-guides around the campus where much of the school is involved in giving out candy in residence halls and other campus spaces. There are also a few haunted houses along the way and some neat demonstrations! Flu Shot Clinic The Office of Personnel Services is coordinating a Flu Shot Clinic on campus again this year for employees and dependents over 18 years of age. The shots will be administered by the Oneida County Health Department. New York City Bus Trip There is a bus trip to New York City scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1. The cost is $30 per person. Pumpkin Coach Lines will pick up passengers in Root Lot (please note new pick up point) at 6:30 a.m. and drop them off in front of Macy’s around noon. The pick up for the return trip will be at 7 p.m., also in front of Macy’s. It is expected that the bus will arrive on campus around midnight.
