21 lengths in pool; start in waves of 16, 2 people per lane; arrive at least 30 minutes before heat. First heat will go at 2:30. Exit pool from west door; run around football field and up the hill to transition area.
TRANSITION 1
Individual participants - will have assigned chairs lined up on the grass north of Dunham. Individuals will put on shoes, helmet, shirt, dry off, etc and then cross the T1 transition timing mat BEOFRE going to their bike on the west side of Dunham. Individuals will then be guided to the southwest side of Dunham lot where they can walk bikes clear of transition area, get on bikes, and exit Dunham lot. Team participants - Swimmers need to transfer their timing chip ankle bracelet to their biker at the designated transfer area. Team swimmers will exit the pool with the individual participants and come to the north end of Dunham lot. The bikers will be waiting on the south side of the barriers separating the grass from Dunham lot. Swimmers will stay on the grass and run to this transfer area area where they will transfer their ankle bracelet to their teammate to continue the relay. The biker will then cross over the T1 transition timing mat BEOFRE grabbing their bike from the west side of Dunham lot. Bikers will then walk their bikes clear of transition area before mounting and exiting Dunham lot.
BIKE ROUTE
Exit Dunham lot, turning right onto College Hill Road. Turn right onto Griffin Road. Turn right on Valley View. Turn right on Norton. Turn right onto Campus Road. Turn right onto College Hill Road. Repeat loop for a total of two laps (9 miles). At the end of the second loop, turn back into Dunham lot.
Please note that although intersections will be patrolled by area police and volunteers, bike safety and traffic are still the responsibility of the bikers themselves. Watch for cars and other riders. Particularly tricky intersections are Griffin/Valley View, Valley View/Norton, and Campus Road/College Hill Road. Please slow down and be prepared to stop at these intersections! Watch for gravel and dirt on roads.
TRANSITION 2
Individual participants - Get off bike before transition zone. Hand bike to a volunteer who will hang your bike for you. Be sure to cross the T2 transition timing mat BEFORE heading to your chair to change into your running gear. Once changed, follow marked path down to the east end of the football field to begin the Cross Country course run. Team participants - Get off bike before transition zone. Hand bike off to a volunteer who will hang your bike for you. Be sure to cross the T2 transition timing mat BEFORE heading to the designated T2 transfer area to transfer your ankle bracelet to your teammate at the edge of Dunham lot. Runners will then exit this transfer area heading toward the football field, following the same path as the individuals to begin the run on the Cross Country course.
RUNNING ROUTE
Please note that this is a 5K cross-country route which may have wet and muddy areas.
Leave Dunham lot and proceed toward the football field to begin the 5K run. Run west across the football field, bear right around the outfield of the baseball field heading toward the golf course. Follow marked course to complete the entire cross-country race loop, which circles the golf course, and the farm field just to the west of it. The course will be marked by mowed grass, painted arrows, and volunteers along the course. Return to the football field following the same route that you used to enter the cross country course. The finish line is located at the east end of the football field near Dunham lot. Be sure to cross the finish line timing mat and proceed thru the finish chute to the timing chip ankle bracelet return area.
