CES Doesn't Solve Problem
by Scott Bixby '11
The open exchange of ideas is one of the hallmarks of the liberal arts education that Hamilton College offers its students. People are, ostensibly, allowed to share their opinions and viewpoints without fear of judgment or unfair criticism. Ideally, that openness fosters an environment where differing perspectives are valued as contributions, instead of dismissed as uninformed and unfair. That's why I am so shocked—and not a little frustrated—with the intensity of the conflict surrounding the proposed Cultural Education Center. More. . . |

Hamilton's Alcohol Problem
by J. Max Currier '10
Hamilton College has an alcohol problem. And we must do something about it.
Too many freshmen come to college and are peer-pressured to drink. Too many students get through the week by looking forward to weekend drinking, despairing when an athletic or extracurricular activity requires them to stay sober. Opening Pandora's Box: Kosovo's Independence
by John Malfetas '09
This past Sunday, Albanians in Kosovo, holding Albanian and American flags, celebrated the unilateral independence of Kosovo from Serbia. The decision was ratified by the Kosovo parliament. Since 1999, Kosovo had been under the auspices of a UN protected, Albanian-led administration. In Kosovo, emotions, nationalism and history play a significant role in forming current politics. Kosovo has extreme symbolic value for both Serbian and Albanian nationalism. More. . . |

The Gossip Box
"An Increasingly Laaaarge Demand..."
The Rumor
The Thomas B. Rudd Health Center recently decided to expand the free prophylactic selection on campus, with choices including various textures, lubrication, and brands that traditionally serve those who are better equipped to safely make adult decisions. This is in addition to the Durex brand, which came in a mere four colors and held a monopoly on the condoms at Hamilton.. This is in response to a growing demand amongst the newest members of the student body. More. . . |
