College Street Café: A Casual Revolution

Hamilton College does an excellent job of providing various outlets on campus for creativity, expression, and even relaxation. No matter how comfortable it is in the microcosm on the Hill, there is still a necessity for off campus exploration from time to time. College Street Café, which opened Black Friday of 2007, is a unique environment right down the hill that begs for further investigation. More. . . |

From Where I Sit: Whitebean '08 Reflects on Working with Utica Refugees

The hours I have spent in the classroom combined with the service hours I have put in at the BOCES Utica ACCESS site have greatly increased my awareness of other cultures, especially those represented within my immediate community. I have been a language tutor in Project SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) in previous semesters; however, the structure of the ESOL class and the attention given to particular exercises and strategies to use as a tutor have become extremely valuable. This experience will be very helpful in my future endeavors. More. . . |
