Filligar Releases New CD - The City Tree
by Ashley Stagner '09
The members of Filligar continue to remain true to themselves in their latest CD entitled The City Tree. Although the band's style has changed slightly since its previous release Succession, I Guess, they have not conformed to the radio friendly music that is becoming ever prevalent. The highly anticipated CD was released on October 5. More. . . |

Peter's Playlist: From Pink Floyd to The Pretenders
by Professor Peter Cannavo
"Peter's Playlist"
1) King Crimson – "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "The Court of the Crimson King"
The greatest rock band ever, IMHO. Early King Crimson combined the barely controlled chaos of Robert Fripp's guitar and the dark, majestic classicism of the mellotron. These two cuts bookend the band's 1969 debut In the Court of the Crimson King, which practically invented progressive rock. "Schizoid Man" is the terrifying opener, an explosive workout featuring Fripp's snarling guitar, Ian McDonald's multitracked saxes, and Greg Lake's scary distorted vocals. Where Is The Love On JuicyCampus?
by Olivia Waxman '11
You won't find too much dish about dining-hall fare or top classes and professors, but you will find much about the hottest dishes and "sluttiest" students at the 60 colleges and universities registered on JuicyCampus.com, an online gossip forum launched in 2007 by Duke alum Matt Ivester. Word about JuicyCampus has spread as quickly as gossip itself, and the site has rapidly become the "Gossip Girl" of the college set and the bane of students nationwide, as it has evolved from a friendly forum where students can gush about the latest happenings at their schools to a virtual cesspool where students can trash each other anonymously, one rant at a time.
