A new tool for musicians: urSESSION

    If any musician or band wants to gain a foothold in the mainstream or at least make their music available to a wider audience, the Internet invariably becomes an option. The most widely used website for this purpose has been MySpace, which has led to the popularity of artists such as the Arctic Monkeys.  However, a problem for unsigned musicians is that Myspace's music section is largely dominated by major-label artists, thus making it more difficult for them to gain recognition outside their local fan-base.     On Visiter, the Dodos innovatively blend various, and often disparate, musical influences to achieve an accomplished sound. Formed in 2006, the San Francisco duo features the combination of a country-blues style guitar and West African percussion within a melodic pop structure. Dan Simmons terrifies readers

    For those of you who think that horror novels cannot provide the same chill factor as your average scary movie, it is time for you to pick up Dan Simmons' The Terror.  The story, set in the mid-1840's, follows the stranded crews of Sir John Franklin and Francis Crozier, whose ships were stranded on an iceberg in the Arctic Circle.  Looking for the fabled Northwest Passage, the crews of the HMS Erebus and Terror are forced to overcome the worst conditions known to man over a three-year period.
