"The Daily Bullsh*t: Part Two?"
The Rumor
Lord Apolon of The Daily Bull fame isn't the least bit finicky about duping the student body in order to further strengthen his brainchild's position as the number-one lit rag on campus. Given this tendency, and evidenced earlier in the semester by Apolon's feigned "throw-a-hissy-fit-and-quit" prank, we here at the Gossip Box are mighty suspicious of this new feud with The Duel Observer.
The Evidence
The current showdown between The Duel Observer and The Daily Bull began a few weeks ago, when the The Duel "launched" a mild-to-moderate slam campaign against The Bull, continuing its longstanding tradition of mocking other campus publications by borrowing their format/subject matter/capitalization schemes. This, in turn, spurred a "counterattack" by Apolon and his legion of CompLit majors, who created a comic mocking Will "Mr." Leubsdorf '10 and his well-established lack of a social life. The creator of the comic, the final panel of which depicts Leubsdorf engaging in a somber act of autoeroticism while editing The Duel, remains uncredited. In fact, any attempt at revealing the comic's creator by Lord Apolon has been contractually forbidden. According to the contract, printed in the April 30 edition of The Daily Bull, Apolon is prohibited from ever "narc[ing]" on the cartoonist, under threat of being labeled a poser and, perhaps even more humiliating, a member of Delta Phi.
The Conclusion
None of The Daily Bull's staffers have ever given up a chance to be recognized for their effete intellectualism. Clearly, the only reason why the cartoonist wouldn't want to reveal that he was the source of the Leubsdorf piece is because... the cartoonist was none other than Leubsdorf himself. (Pause for dramatic reverb). The feud is clearly orchestrated by both publications to increase readership of both. If only The Spectator was half as clever.
