Potentially Dangerous Spacewalk This Weekend

    This Saturday or Sunday, NASA history will be made. Astonaut Scott Parazynski will attempt an extremely difficult spacewalk to fix a rip in a major solar panel array on the International Space Station (ISS). Science Matters Matter in Election

    While the issues of science and technology may not have received high profiles in the 2008 campaign relative to issues of the war in Iraq, health care, or the environment, a candidate's support for science funding and technological initiatives becomes important if they achieve elected office. The administrative details of scientific funding can determine the fate of research grants and technological innovations, and an administration can pursue scientific findings openly or cherry-pick evidence to obstruct issues.
