Debate Team Earns Five Awards at Cornell

On November 2 and 3, the Hamilton College Debate Team won five awards in a competition at Cornell University. Individual winners included Luke Maher '11 for second Best Novice Speaker, Andrew Harris '11 for 6th Best Novice Speaker, and Chris Smith '11 as the 8th Best Novice Speaker. Team awards went out to Phil Fraccola '08 and Harris as the second Best Novice Team, and Alex Duncan '10 and Smith as the 5th Best Novice Team. - General Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan's Army Chief and President, declared a state of emergency tantamount to martial law. Musharraf claims that the move was intended to curb extremist groups in Pakistan and protect the country from civil war.

EMT Appreciation Week Honors Student Volunteers

Last week Hamilton student Emergency Medical Technicians were honored as a part of EMT Appreciation week. This is a nationally recognized week to recognize and thank college EMTs across the county. The National Collegiate Medical Service Foundation (NCEMSF) designates this week for colleges, even though the nationally recognized day to celebrate Emergency Medical Services is in May. This is because many colleges are not in session in May, so the NCEMSF decided to choose a week during the academic year.

Trail Will Allow Easy Passage to Root Glen

With an amazing Glen House equipped with an entire room of outdoor gear for rent, students have ample opportunity to utilize Hamilton's expansive Root Glen. However, when a student rents skis and faces the steep, windy slopes at the Glen entrance by the Glen House, his or her afternoon of skiing may seem less appealing. Director of Outdoor Leadership Andrew Jillings has a great solution to get students from the Glen House to the trails behind Root Residence Hall without having to scale the difficult slopes or trek with their skis across Martin's Way Bridge.
