Emerson Scholars Program

The Emerson Scholars program reflects the highest priorities of a Hamilton education: close student-faculty interaction, rigorous scholarly or creative work, and public presentation. Each spring the program awards stipends to approximately 10 student-faculty teams for collaborative work that is completed during the summer.

Established in 1996 by the Fred L. Emerson Foundation, the program enables faculty and students to learn significantly about one another, themselves, and their world through work on original projects. The Foundation recently contributed $500,000 and challenged the College to raise $1.5 million to permanently endow the program, so that at least 20 Hamilton students will be designated Emerson Scholars each summer.
