Foreign Exposure

If you are recently back from study abroad and you loved it, or if you are an international student who is eager to share information with Hamilton students considering studying in your home country, you should join Foreign Exposure!

What Is Foreign Exposure?

Foreign Exposure is not a club, it’s simply a venue for getting together with other people interested in the country you lived and/or studied in. It’s a way for you to meet others familiar with the country you love, and also to help mentor and encourage students who haven’t been there but are considering studying abroad.

How Much Time Does It Take?

All it takes is about an hour and half of your time. Foreign Exposure hosts weekly coffee hours on Friday afternoons (or we can schedule alternative times if necessary) at which two to three returning or international students meet with students planning their study abroad in a particular county. You just have to be willing to talk to people who drop by Café Opus I during your coffee hour. The hosts and the drop-in students get coupons for Café Opus goodies!

How Do I Join?

Just fill out the Foreign Exposure form and send it to Carol Drogus via campus mail, or email the information to Karen Prentice-Duprey. We’ll contact you and other students interested in sharing information about the same country to schedule a mutually convenient time. If you already know two or three friends who would like to host a coffee hour on a particular country, you can also email us your names, the country you want to discuss, and possible dates and times.

What Coffee Hours Are Scheduled Already?

Check the Study Abroad Events Calendar to see a list of Coffee Hours for this semester!

You know you benefited from some foreign exposure—share your expertise and experiences with others!
