2. Two semesters of College Biology
3. Two semesters of College Physics
4. Four semesters of College Chemistry, including Organic Chemistry
o Hamilton Courses that satisfy the minimum requirements:
2. Biology 110-210 (225)
3. Physics 101-105 or 190-195
4. Chemistry 120, 190, 255, and 265 or 266
o In addition, many medical schools ask that students demonstrate proficiency in mathematics; a few require calculus. Those that ask students to be competent in mathematics accept a range of courses as evidence, including statistics and computer science, as well as calculus.
o Other courses suggested by medical schools include further work in the sciences, psychology, and social science courses. All are interested in the breadth of education students acquire in the normal course of getting a degree in a liberal arts college. Fulfilling these additional requirements almost always happens naturally in the process of taking the courses that satisfy Hamilton's distribution requirements.
o If you plan to enter medical school immediately after Hamilton, you must take the four basic science courses in the first three years, so that you are prepared for the MCAT in April of your junior year. This means doubling up somewhere along the line, and it also implies that you should take at the very least one laboratory science during your first year.
