THE DLC AIMS TO HELP STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE A HIGH LEVEL OF CHINESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY IN THE SHORTEST AMOUNT OF TIME POSSIBLE.
Like any other foreign language, Chinese language acquisition requires not only adequate language exposure and direct contact with the Chinese culture, but also individualized and differentiated instruction catered to the students’ needs.
The ACC Distance Learning Center (DLC) offers individualized one-on-one tutorial sessions with professionally trained teachers from the Minzu University of China (MUC) in Beijing, China to K-16 students and non-native Chinese teachers in the US.
Our teaching model provides you with four unique characteristics:
- three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational;
- short-term and long-term language learning curriculum;
- authentic language and cultural experiences beyond the classroom;
- guaranteed improvement at all levels of proficiency (no experience, beginner, intermediate, advanced, & superior).
The goal of the DLC is to develop a model of individualized Chinese as a Foreign Language (CFL) instruction to meet the needs of many high school and college students who are learning Chinese in a non-target language environment. This center makes use of ACC’s current modern facilities, pedagogical frameworks, well-trained teachers, and existing web-based distance learning technologies to offer individualized one-on-one tutorial sessions.
