Allan Kolsky, who is principal clarinet of Symphoria, in Syracuse, N.Y., held positions with the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Utah Symphony before joining the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra in 2002 as principal clarinet. As a soloist with Symphoria and the Syracuse orchestra he's performed concertos by Nielsen, Mozart and Finzi.

Kolsky received a Tanglewood Fellowship in 1989 and holds performance degrees from Temple and DePaul universities, where he studied with Anthony Gigliotti and Larry Combs. He was a co-host and performer at the 2001 International ClarinetFest. He also has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Skaneateles Festival, Glimmerglass Opera and the Colorado Music Festival.  In 2011 Kolsky won the Civic Morning Musicals Award for Excellence in Music Performance.

At Hamilton he teaches clarinet and chamber music at Hamilton College and previously taught at the University of New Orleans.
