Preliminary Orientation in Biarritz and Paris

As part of the program, all students participate in a two to three-week orientation in Biarritz and Paris.

Biarritz is a popular resort town on the French Atlantic Coast, lying at the entrance to the Basque country and facing the mountains of Spain. Its rolling surf and relaxed atmosphere are perfect ingredients for smoothing students' transition to life in France and for forming new friendships among students. It is a wonderful introduction to life in the French regions.

The orientation program includes:

  • Courses in civilization, composition, reading, and conversation;
  • Day excursions to locations in the Basque country and an overnight trip (Toulouse or Bordeaux/St. Emilion etc..)
  • Regularly scheduled orientation meetings in preparation for Paris;
  • Individual academic advising with the Director for the year in Paris.
