Previous ProgramsSPRING 2004Topic: Governing the Global City Director: Theodore J. Eismeier Professor of Government Ph: (315) 859-4446 E-mail: teismeie@hamilton.edu Our topic will be the politics and governance of the global city. Living and working in what Saskia Sassen has described as a command center of the global economy, we shall see how globalization is shaping traditional patterns of urban politics and governance. As we consider theories of the new regional economics and political change in the metropolis, our field studies will bring us up close to politics and policymakers. Students will have an opportunity to intern in city and state government, regional authorities, economic development organizations, interest groups, and the media. |
