Program Fees

The Directors have made every effort to avoid hidden costs. The Program regular fee is $6,575. For Early Acceptance students applying before February 28, 2009, the Program fee is $6,275. It should be emphasized that, unlike many other programs abroad, SIHS fees cover all expenses announced from the moment of the Madrid arrival (June 22) to the moment of departure from Madrid's airport on July 25. Therefore these fees include tuition (2 full credit courses), full room and board in León, bus transportation, full room and board in 3-4 star hotels, group visits, and director and/or professional guides during Orientation and field trips, activities with Spanish students, group entertainment (Director's dinner, Apertura and Clausura ceremonies, lectures, presentations, a farewell party, etc.), group transportation, group monument visits, flamenco dance or gym activities, swimming pool privileges, basic medical insurance, and miscellaneous. Not included are U.S. and transatlantic transportation, passport fees, some study materials, and personal expenses.

An initial deposit of $500 is due within two weeks of acceptance (nonrefundable). The balance must be paid by April 30 ($6,075 or $5,775). Half of the payments received (excluding deposit) will be refunded to any student who withdraws between April 30 and May 20. There will be no refund after May 20. The program requires a minimum of 15 students. Please note that, while the directors have attempted to calculate all costs as accurately as possible, the program fee is nevertheless based in part on current tariffs and rate of monetary exchange. For this reason it is subject to change. Checks should be made payable to "Summer Institute of Hispanic Studies" and sent to:
