Some Frequently Asked Questions About Tutoring

How do I go about getting a tutor?

Come to the Peer Tutoring Office and fill out a Tutor Request Card, which gives us information about the course, the instructor, and your schedule.

Who are the tutors?

Tutors are students who have already taken the course in which you are being tutored, have been recommended by the department, and have been trained in tutoring techniques.

Does my professor know about the tutorials?

Yes. Professors are notified that you have a tutor, and they are asked to suggest topics for tutorials.

Do I have any responsibilities?

Yes. You are expected to keep your appointments and to notify your tutor ahead of time and reschedule if you must miss a tutorial. You will also be asked to fill out evaluation forms.

Is there a charge for this service?

No. Tutoring is available at no charge.
