Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Parents may be eligible to borrow under a Federal loan program called the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). The PLUS loan is a low-interest education loan that allows parents to fund the cost of their child's education. Parents can borrow up to the cost of attendance, minus the student's financial aid. If you choose to borrow with a PLUS Loan, please complete the following steps:
- Complete the Hamilton College PLUS Loan Request form. This form informs our Financial Aid Office of the amount you are requesting to borrow, the loan period, and your choice of lender. You can print the Plus Loan request form. Hamilton will not certify PLUS Loans prior to June 1, 2006 for incoming freshman. PLUS Loans for upperclass students will be certified after July 1, 2006. Please complete and mail to the Financial Aid Office.
- Please have your loan pre-approved by your lender. You can do this on their Web site or by phoning your lender.
- Complete the Application and Promissory Note for Federal PLUS Loan, either electronically via your lender's Web site or a paper application, which your lender has mailed to you. If you would like to apply online using one of our preferred lenders do so by clicking the following lenders.
