Visiting Campus

Summertime in Clinton, N.Y.

If you have time and don't have to rush off to another campus visit, here are a few suggestions for enjoying your stay in Clinton:

HAMILTON CAMPUS
  • Root Glen – Stroll the seven and one-half acre wooded garden and ravine located on the southern side of Hamilton's campus. Observe the 75 species of birds, 65 species of trees and scores of shrubs and flowers. Brochures for the Hamilton College Arboretum are also available in the gazebo at the entrance to the Root Glen.

VILLAGE OF CLINTON
(less than a mile from the blinking light at the bottom of the Hill)
  • Farmers Market (Thursdays) – Visit the area's largest Farmers Market on the Village Green every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fresh-grown produce, home-baked goods, flowers and hand-made crafts make this market the area's most popular. (Through Oct.)
  • Art Rocks (Daily) – Back for its third season, this promotion features 44 Adirondack-style rocking chairs (just like the one in our group presentation room) painted by local artists and displayed throughout the village. And if one catches your eye, you can place a bid to own it. (Through Sept. 12)
  • Concerts in the Park (Tuesdays) – The 30th annual Concerts in the Park series includes everything from rock to Irish ballads to polka. Join our community on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. on the Village Green, weather permitting. (July 7-Aug. 25)
  • Summer Shoppers Stroll (Thursdays) – Businesses stay open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays, and several host specials, street performers and live music. Enter a drawing to win more than $100 worth of gift certificates donated by local merchants. (July 9-Aug. 27)
  • Historic Clinton Week (June 28-July 5) – Clinton marks its 222-year history with a week that includes walking tours, a historic car show, an old-fashioned soda shop and a student photo exhibition. Famous people and organizations with ties to Clinton include U.S. President Grover Cleveland, Clara Barton, Leland Stanford and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
  • Art & Music Festival (Saturday, Aug. 29) – This day-long street festival features 30 artisans and 50 bands and musicians performing throughout the village.
