Belay Clinics

Belay clinics are offered at the beginning of each semester and during open hours when the wall isn’t too busy.  If you’ve never belayed before, plan on working with one of our staff members for about an hour. After taking a belay clinic, you may take a belay test the next time you visit the wall to become an authorized belayer. Students with previous belay experience may forgo the clinic and take the test if they can prove proficiency in proper belaying technique, tying-in, and communication with the climber.

Students new to climbing may take a P.E. class in Beginning Climbing. You can also just stop in during open hours and one of our friendly staff can get you started! There are also opportunities for experienced climbers to advance their skills by taking a Lead Climbing clinic and learning to sport lead.
