Student Engagement

There are currently two programs for students facilitated through the Alumni Office: Hamilton Alumni Leadership Training (HALT) and the Senior Gift Campaign. Students must be seniors to participate in either program, however, opportunities are under development for underclassmen to become involved.

Hamilton Alumni Leadership Training (HALT)

The HALT program was first piloted with the Class of 2003 as a means of creating a senior class leadership structure to introduce seniors to the ways they can stay actively involved in the life of the College after graduation. Over the course of a year committee members attend monthly luncheons, hear from guest speakers and get an insiders view on how they can engage with and volunteer for the College as alumni.  HALT also takes on several special projects over the year, which are determined in consultation with various campus offices.

Current and recent guest speakers, who are selected by the Committee, include: President Joan Hinde Stewart, Charter Trustee Susan Skerritt K'77, Vice-President of Communications and Development Dick Tantillo, Associate Vice-President for Facilities Steve Bellona P'03, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Elizabeth Bowman and Associate Dean of Admission Sue Donegan.

Senior Gift Campaign

The first Senior Gift Campaign was in 1982 and achieved an impressive 61% participation.  Since then classes have challenged themselves to out perform their predecessors.  For the past fourteen years the senior class has participated consistently above 90%. The current record is held by the Class of 2007, who blew away all records with 97.6% participation. As a result, the class is currently the proud holder of the coveted President's Cup, which is given to the class with the highest senior gift participation.

The Senior Gift Campaign is managed by student volunteers with
administrative support from the Office of Annual Giving. Committee members are representatives to their classmates collecting gift ideas, answering questions and providing periodic updates on the Campaign, in addition to soliciting classmates for gifts. The success of the Senior Gift relies on committed and motivated Committee members who can reach out to and connect with every member of their class.  Read more about the Class of 2010 Senior Gift Campaign.
