Chairman's Awards
Amy Merin '89, Aron Ain '79, P'09, '11 and Montgomery Pooley '84
The College commends its reunion chairs and the more than 200 additional volunteers from 1944 to 2004 who made Reunions '09 and the 2008-09 reunion gift effort occasions to celebrate. At the annual Alumni Association meeting held during Reunion Weekend, Annual Fund Chairman George Baker '74 presented Aron Ain '79, P'09, '11, Montgomery Pooley '84 and Amy Merin '89 with Chairman's Awards for outstanding leadership in their classes' gift efforts.
"Aron began his Annual Fund volunteer service in 2004, and C&D has been trying to keep up with him since. He supports Hamilton as both an alumnus and parent caller with respectful tenacity. In his first year as reunion gift co-chair, Aron looked carefully at how to move his class and peers on the dollar front and successfully boosted participation as well. He catalyzed a reunion challenge that led by example and produced marvelous results."
"Monty began his service to the Annual Fund several years prior to Reunions '09 and agreed to 'step up' to co-lead the milestone 25th reunion gift effort. He led his committee by providing meaningful motivation based on his actions and rallied his fellow classmates to perform likewise. Perhaps it's in his blood; Monty's father, Montgomery '38, served Hamilton in various volunteer capacities, as did Monty's father-in-law, Dave Hinchcliff '57, who led a very successful 45th reunion gift effort. It is not a coincidence that with Monty's leadership the Class of 1984's 25th reunion class dollar total is the highest of all alumni classes this year."
"Amy embraces challenges and had strong confidence in her classmates' loyalty and generosity. Phone call by phone call, e-mail by e-mail her sense of her peers commitment was rewarded. Her experience as a development officer and selfless dedication of her time helped the class to achieve contributions at an all-time high class total. For the first time, 16 classmates made a gift of $1,000 or more! In addition to focusing on increasing her class' dollar totals, she innovatively boosted participation as well, effectively using Facebook to get the class philanthropic message out."
