GOLD Scholars: Completing the Cycle
Supporting the undergraduate experience has always been a central component of the Annual Fund, and the stories of the nine GOLD Scholars selected during 2008-09 clearly illustrate the impact that young alumni support has on today's students.
Now in its third year, the
GOLD Scholars Program continues to resonate with recently graduated alumni. With each $15,000 collectively contributed to the Annual Fund by the GOLD Group, the College selects a GOLD Scholar based on two criteria: financial need and his/her demonstrated ability to perform to the highest Hamilton standards, both in and out of the classroom.
When asked to share her perspective with alumni, Hamilton's 23rd GOLD Scholar Christina Matulaitis '09 replied: "Recent graduates should never underestimate the power of a small donation. I intend to give back to the school every year, although it might be nominal in those first few years out. Alumni generosity made it possible for me to attend an amazing institution like Hamilton, which inspires me to give back in order to complete the cycle."
Year after year, alumni gifts — big and small — "complete the cycle." Together, the GOLD alumni work to transform the lives of those who follow in their footsteps on College Hill.
