English poet and playwright John Heywood wrote, "Many hands make light work" – the idea that monumental tasks become manageable when divided among a number of people.
The same can be said about Hamilton's Annual Fund. The collective power of support is many gifts, regardless of their size, combining with hundreds of others to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of students on College Hill.
To encourage alumni and parent generosity this year, several members of the Board of Trustees have offered a combined $250,000 as a challenge pool to magnify your generosity. The Power of Many Challenge provides a one-for-one match that will double the impact of your gift or pledge payment if made prior to December 31.
The Annual Fund, which includes the Parents Fund, helps to enable the preparation of the most promising students to become leaders in an increasingly complex global community. Collectively your gifts provide the equivalent of one dollar out of four provided to students this year for financial aid.
For each of the past 28 years, more than half of all alumni have verified the value of their own Hamilton experience by supporting students via gifts to the Annual Fund. Last year, 8,000 alumni and parents who gave generously but gave a thousand dollars or less provided more than a million dollars to Annual Fund. Remarkable!
