Reunion Highlights

HALF-CENTURY ALUMNI

A special welcome to Half-Century Alumni Classes of 1957 and earlier. The Classes of 1943, 1948 and 1953 are co-hosting a reunion for all half-century alumni, regardless of class year. Come now, and plan to come every year, to join your classmates and others from your time on the Hill.

REUNION ENTERTAINMENT

  • Alumni All-Stars Jazz Band
  • Bagpipes of the Mohawk Valley Frasers
  • Low Red Land
  • Steak Nite

CELEBRATE WITH SONG AT THE SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE

The mixed-voice Reunion Choir, under the direction of Professor of Music and Director of Choral Programs G. Roberts Kolb, will rehearse and perform. Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 9:50 a.m. in the Chapel. All alumni, spouses, children and guests who enjoy singing are invited to join. No auditions, just good music and great fun.

In addition, the Baldwin Choir (male voices) will rehearse and perform under the direction of R. Douglas Sheldon '63. Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturday at 8:45 a.m. and Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel. Both choirs will sing at the Service of Remembrance on Sunday morning.

CONTINENTAL CANES

Members of the Class of 1968 will be awarded Continental canes, a tradition established by the Class of 1959 on the occasion of its 40th reunion. The head of the cane forms a Continental tri-corner hat in honor of Baron von Steuben, who served as a drillmaster of Washington's Continental Army and who laid the cornerstone of the Hamilton-Oneida Academy in 1794. Graduating seniors have been receiving canes with their diplomas
since 1977.

50TH REUNION MEDALLIONS

Special medallions are presented at registration to all alumni who are celebrating their 50th reunion. Please congratulate alumni wearing these medals.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

In recent years, many children have shared Reunion Weekend with their parents thanks to Hamilton's Reunion Child Care Program. A structured program for infants and children under 12 is housed in the Clinton Early Learning Center in Root Residence Hall. Child care will be available from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday evening. Children will be supervised and entertained by a team of Hamilton and local high school students. Pre-registration for child care is required by May 15, 2008. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated. For more information, call 866-729-0314. Older children are invited to enjoy the swimming pool, tennis courts and other athletics facilities, the computer center and large-screen video games. You can safely and easily share your alma mater with the whole family!

MAKE PLANS TO STAY

Why leave campus at the end of the day? You are invited to return to the residence halls for a nostalgic and economical weekend. Keep in mind that there are still some bunk beds, shared bathrooms and the possibility of warm weather without air conditioning or cool weather and the need for extra blankets. Whenever possible, classes are housed together.
If you prefer off-campus accommodations, contact BTI, the College's travel agency, at
800-472-7447 for assistance with hotel/motel reservations, as well as airline and/or car rental reservations. Off-campus accommodations are limited, so plan early.

RING THAT BELL!

Join the College in honoring Clarence Aldridge '45 and Ralph Hansmann '40, P'72 when they are presented with Bell Ringer Awards at the annual meeting of the Alumni Association on Saturday in the Chapel. The Bell Ringer Award is presented each year at Reunions in recognition of contributions made to the College, its alumni and the community.

MAKING AN EXTRA EFFORT FOR REUNIONS

Thanks to the efforts of committees, Reunions '08 promises to be a wonderful weekend.

Questions? E-mail reunions@hamilton.edu or

Reunion committee members are working hard to encourage your participation this year. In letters, phone calls and e-mails, these volunteers seek to encourage every class member to join them on campus for Reunions '08 and to participate as donors to the reunion gift effort.  If you haven't received a call yet, you will soon. But don't wait! You can make your reunion gift by logging onto Hamilton's secure online giving site, www.hamilton.edu/makeagift or by calling 866-729-0315 and leaving your gift information on the secure voice-mail system. Every gift counts toward supporting today's Hamilton students, so please don't delay.
