Jane Austen’s England

June 12-22, 2014

Nine days/ten nights (see travel brochure)

This Hamilton Alumni Tour provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Jane Austen’s England under the tutelage of John H. O’Neill, Edmund A. LeFevre Professor of English Emeritus.

Jane Austen is one of the English language’s best-known and most loved writers. Join Austen expert John O’Neill for a personalized tour and exploration of historically significant locations in Austen’s life and works. Arriving in Manchester, we start our adventure at Lyme Park, an elegant Edwardian house also known as Mr. Darcy’s Pemberley in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries. We continue on to Derbyshire’s Haddon Hall, an imposing property featured in many films. Next we visit Bath, Austen’s home from 1801-1806, and featured in two of her novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Additional sites include Winchester, Chawton and London.

Group size for this trip is limited.
