Fall Plant Appreciation Days

On October 6, Terry Hawkridge offered a Science center workshop requested by spring session attendees, entitled "Put Your Garden to Bed." He offered guidance on actions to take throughout the fall months to prepare trees, shrubs and perennials for a central New York winter.

On October 13, Hawkridge took visitors on a fall foliage tour on the Hamilton College campus. In this session, he was able to point out tree types often noted in the year-long series (and part of the campus arboretum), highlight proper pruning and mulching techniques, and note right tree/right conditions (and some trees not planted in the right spot, as well!). Re-emphasizing themes covered throughout the year's classes brought the sessions full-circle in a thoroughly enjoyable manner. Over 100 attendees came to campus to enjoy the Arboretum's fall plant appreciation days.
