Cool Moon Risin'Camera Captures Lunar EclipseNovember 1, 2004 Dave Tewksbury, a photographer and technician in the geology department, created this stunning photocomposite of four images he took during the lunar eclipse on Oct. 27. The photo shows the gradual covering of the moon by the Earth's shadow. Dave took the images with a digital camera with a 500 mm F8 mirror lens. More ...

Over the summer the Burke Library and Information Technology Services established the Information Commons (IC) on the first floor of library. The new initiative brings together high-capacity computing tools, the print and electronic resources of the library, and the professional assistance of both reference librarians and information technology staff to provide a single point of service for the campus. TIAA-CREF Representative to be on Campus Appointments are still available to meet with a TIAA-CREF representative on Tuesday, Dec. 7, for an individual counseling session. All College employees are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to receive assistance in developing long-term strategies for retirement and to learn about TIAA-CREF retirement income flexibility. Individuals will also receive guidance in finding the right allocation mixes for investments, as well as understanding the basic types of investment choices that are available. These sessions are helpful even if you are not a TIAA-CREF participant. Personnel Services also has copies of "Retirement Strategies," a booklet which provides guidance on how to determine and meet one's financial needs in retirement. If you would like to schedule a personal appointment to meet with the TIAA-CREF representative and/or would like a copy of "Retirement Strategies," please contact Donna Grygiel at ext. 4689. Employee Events/Programs 2005 Smart Shoppers Coupon Book Sale Fitness Options Noon Hour aerobics is an ongoing program offered to all employees. The program is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Alumni Gym. Take advantage of this free opportunity to get in shape and stay active during the upcoming shorter winter days. Employees may participate as often as they wish, and pre-registration is not required. Yoga/Pilates program is held on Tuesdays in the Fillius Events Barn. The next six-week session will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 5 - 6:15 p.m. The cost is $15 and participants need to supply their own yoga mat (available at the College Store) and be ready to relax and unwind. Pre-registration is required. Contact Personnel Services, ext. 4302 for registration information Weight Watchers At Work As the holidays approach, weight loss is not always the first thing on everyone's mind. However, it is the perfect time to join Weight Watchers At Work and learn how to enjoy the holidays in a new, healthy way. Weight Watchers offers two plans now to fit your lifestyle and preferences, and you will join a solid support group that has lost more than 400 pounds! The next eight-week session begins on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at noon in the Assembly Room, located on the third floor of Bristol Center. The cost is $85 for new members, $80 for current members and $72 for Lifetime members not within five pounds of their goal weight. Personnel Services has additional information.
