Trees at HamiltonA Personal PerspectiveJanuary 5, 2005 Editor’s Note: The campus lost one of its oldest and most majestic inhabitants in November when the cucumber magnolia tree that towered in front of the Bristol Center was removed. Once Hamilton’s largest tree in diameter and a New York State champion specimen, the tree was hollow and in danger of falling. Invest More for Retirement In 2005 Effective Jan. 1, 2005, all College employees are eligible to contribute up to $14,000 to a voluntary 403(b) retirement account. If you are 50 years old or older, you will be able to contribute up to $18,000 in 2005. To increase the level of your contribution, simply complete a revised Salary Reduction Agreement. This form is available on the Personnel Services Web site or by contacting Personnel Services, ext. 4689. TIAA-CREF Representative to be on Campus A representative from TIAA-CREF, Raffaele Bruno, will be on campus in 2005 monthly, beginning in February and continuing through May. Raffaele provides individual counseling sessions on current investment strategies, meeting long-term investment goals, asset allocation and general retirement and financial planning issues. Personnel Services also has copies of Retirement Strategies, a booklet that provides guidance on how to determine and meet one's financial needs in retirement. If you would like schedule a personal appointment to meet with Raffaele and/or would like a copy of Retirement Strategies, please contact Donna Grygiel, ext. 4689. Procedures in the Event the College Is Closed On rare occasions, the College is closed due to emergency situations such as hazardous weather conditions, power outages or other circumstances which might hamper the normal business of Hamilton. In the event that the College has to be closed due to unexpected situations, please refer to the Personnel Services web site for information about notification procedures. In addition, recorded information regarding the status of College operations can be obtained by calling 859-4040. If the College is closed during the course of a regular workday, a designated individual within each department or building will be notified via telephone. In addition, a message will be recorded and available at the above number. |
