President Discusses Kirkland Project/Ward Churchill Event

February 9, 2005  The College, as you know by now, has recently received negative publicity from an invitation issued by the Kirkland Project. Many of you have written saying you feel this situation has damaged the College's reputation and even caused you personal embarrassment. Professor Emeritus Sidney Wertimer Dies at 84

Economics Professor Served Hamilton for 52 Years

February 1, 2005  Sidney Wertimer, professor emeritus of economics, died early on February 1 in Charleston, S.C., with his family at his side. He was 84 years old and had been in declining health. Sidney served Hamilton for the past 52 years.

The Adler Conference: Building a Community of Respect

Campus-Wide Discussion of Issues Will Take Place on Friday, Feb. 11

February 7, 2005  Hamilton's annual Adler Conference, "Building a Community of Respect," will take place on Friday, Feb. 11, in the Annex. The conference will begin at noon with a served lunch and will continue to 4 p.m. The Adler Conference is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and have candid and meaningful discussions on important issues that affect everyone in the Hamilton community.  The conference will generate dialogues regarding respect in our community. Topics that will be discussed will be respect for people and property, how and if communication occurs among different groups, and ways to build a respectful community. Financial Planning Seminar Thursday, Feb. 10

Planning Your Retirement Distributions

Join us for lunch on Thursday, Feb. 10 at noon in The Hub, located on the first floor of Bristol Center, for a seminar on planning your retirement plan distributions. This seminar will be presented by Paul Bopp '97, a Financial Advisor with American Express Financial Services, and is open to all employees, but is most appropriate for individuals within 5 to 10 years of retirement. College Alcohol and Drug Policies

Hamilton College is committed to the development and maintenance of an educational and workplace environment in compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 and the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and will not tolerate the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees on its property or as part of any of its activities.

Compliance with the provisions of these policies is a condition of employment. Disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment and referral for prosecution may be required by any employee who is found to be in violation.

TIAA-CREF Individual Counseling Sessions

There are openings still available for personal consultations with Raffaele Bruno, the Hamilton College TIAA-CREF representative who will be on campus Wednesday, April 13. Personnel Services also has copies of "Retirement Strategies," a booklet on how to determine and meet one’s needs for retirement.
