Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

AT HAMILTON COLLEGE

Hamilton's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has been in existence since 1998. The committee is made up of representatives from Hamilton's 28 varsity sports teams who are interested in pursuing the goals of the committee. SAAC representatives act as liasons to their respective teams, informing them of issues discussed at meetings.

Purpose

1. To promote efficient communication between the Hamilton College Athletic Department and the student-athlete population.
2. To solicit student-athlete response to proposed NCAA legislation.
3. To encourage the involvement of student-athletes in campus and community projects.
4. To design and implement programs which will encourage community relations, school spirit/campus initiatives, discussion of NESCAC policies, and academic concerns.
5. To create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on
   campus-wide committees.
6. To disseminate information to student-athletes.

Sub-Committees

Academic: Organizes the SAAC Scholar Athlete Luncheon and provides guidance for student-athletes to ensure academic success.

Co-Chairs: Jessie Pisegna '06, Erin Dougherty '06 . Other Members:  Alexis Castrovinci '06, Nikola Banishki '07, Allie Massaro '07, Bryden Considine '08. 

Community Service: Coordinates athlete participation in service projects such as the AIDS Hike for Life at Hamilton College, Toys for Tots, Hamilton Trust Treat, and local food drives.

Spirit: Plans Spirit Days and encourages campus-wide attendence at home sporting events.

Sportsmanship: Addresses issues of sportamanship within the student-athlete population as well as the Hamilton student population as a whole.

Student-Athlete Welfare: Addresses any pertinent issues regarding student-athlete welfare on campus.
