Report for Adam Lavallee (NESCAC SAAC MEETING) Some things work for some schools, some things don’t Freshman orientation forum for freshman What to do to miss a class for freshman Active staff-team advisor Spirit Awareness to promote SAAC Recruiting visits—issue with drinking Logistical legislation All other schools are where we are—still developing, about what it is and what it does 3. sub-committee reports academic: brainstorm, put up fliers and posters, q-lit center, writing center, lecture by prof. simon, information about time-management sportsmanship: national sportsmanship day- early march, print out fliers at games next to programs, taking stuff from the ncaa site, citrus bowl—sportsmanship (middlebury did one) community service: trust treat and toys for tots spirit committee: day where all sports team wears their colors-show support, on a men’s basketball day, encouraging all students to wear Hamilton colors 4. Toys for Tots: early December for each team, contact team and see what they will give (give a dollar or two and you can buy a lot of toys—you can go to walmart, and buy a lot of toys). Drop off in North Court- walk in door, it’s right on the left to put the toys there. They do not have to be wrapped. 5. Winter Events of the Season Women’s squash: Men’s squash: none Men’s and women’s Swimming: January 23rd against Colgate Women’s Basketball: St. Lawrence or senior day Men’s basketball: Men’s hockey: Women’s hockey: 6. Citrus Bowl- Nov 21st against Babson. Coach Grady doesn’t like it, campus safety is going to be really strict about it, bagel bowl too, embarrassing for Hamilton, article in Spectator- agree that this is a tradition that should end, SAAC makes a statement as part of this article, Chris Tskasas (sp?) is editor- trying to get Ian Mandel to write the article 7. Division III Student-Athlete Regional Leadership Conference Focus with SAAC: come back and implement plan for SAAC, student-athletes need to know more about SAAC- posting minutes in the training room, open up lines of communication between SAAC and the student-body as a whole, can come back Dec 1st- Zoe, Marissa, and Andrew will join us, communication needs to be stressed! 8.
