Overview
On Nov. 22, 2008, it took Peter Kosgei '10 just 24 minutes, 22 seconds to race into the Hamilton College men's cross country record books. Kosgei (pictured) finished first in the NCAA Division III championships at the L.S. Ayres Complex in Hanover, Indiana, to claim the first national title in program history. His 10-second victory capped a remarkable season in which he won all nine races and set the Hamilton course record with a time of 24:39.9. Along the way, he earned the NCAA Division III men's cross country athlete of the year award from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the most outstanding performer award after the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championships, and the runner of the year award from the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) after the state championships. He received the same awards from the NESCAC and NYSCTC in 2007, and is a two-time USTFCCCA Atlantic region athlete of the year for men's cross country.
