Hamilton College Certificate of Insurance Requirements

All companies/vendors contracting with Hamilton College must provide the College with a certificate of insurance before the contract period begins. The original certificate, accompanied by a copy of the blanket endorsement from the insurance company, shall be sent to Amber Denny, Administrative Services, Hamilton College, 198 College Hill Road, Clinton, NY 13323.

Hamilton College and its officers, employees, agents, and volunteers must be named as a “primary” additional insured on the insurance policy.

Worker’s Compensation and Disability insurance are required under the laws of the State of New York. 

  • Comprehensive General Liability, including bodily injury and property damage, which shall specifically include contractual liability arising out of the operations performed by the contractor/vendor referring to this project, completed operations, and products liability with limits as follows:
  • Bodily injury: $1,000,000 each person, $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate
  • And broad form property damage liability, including coverage for X-C-U hazards with limits as follows: $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate if applicable. (or) Combined Single Limits: $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate.
  • A Network and Information Security Liability (Cyber) Policy: $3M per occurrence and $3M in the aggregate if applicable.
  • Professional Liability Insurance Policy: Technology Errors and Omissions Policy: $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate if applicable. 
  • Automobile liability insurance, with a limit of no less than $1M for Bodily Injury/Property Damage (Each Accident), including all: Owned Vehicles, Leased Vehicles, Hired Vehicles, Non-Owned, and Employee Non-Owned Vehicles if applicable.
  • Umbrella Liability with limits: $3M aggregate. 
  • Or large project contractors (project value over $500,000 or projects whose scope indicates increased insurance). $5M aggregate.

The Contractor and Sub-Contractors not covered by the contractor’s insurance shall obtain all insurance required by the contract outlined above. These policies shall be primary insurance ahead of any insurance carried by the College with respect to the project. All policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation Clause. The contractor must provide evidence of renewals of any required coverages at least thirty days prior to the expiration of any required policy. The contractor must provide Hamilton College with 30 days advance written notice of cancellation, non-renewal, or material reduction in coverage initiated by the Contractor with respect to any of the required insurance coverages.

Requesting a Certificate of Insurance 

The Administrative Services office provides certificates of insurance (COI) to document the College's insurance coverage. If your vendor requires a COI showing the College's coverage, please contact Amber Denny, Administrative Services, at 315-859-4974
