Wednesday, First Week of Advent
"See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

The Siren and the Alarm Clock

This is from a children's sermon given by my father.  He let the kids hear two sounds: a siren, and an alarm clock.  Advent is like both of these.  A siren going off means that something important has happened, and an alarm clock signifies that something will happen.  During Advent, we look to the past, more than two thousand years ago, when Jesus was born and lived and died and rose again.  We also look ahead, with great excitement, to when Jesus will come again to bring His kingdom from heaven to earth.  Advent reminds us to remember and to anticipate Jesus!
