Collection in Spiritual Film

Inaugurated in 2012 in memory of Joshua Hicks ’09, a Religious Studies major who worked on religion and film. “Jicks” as he was fondly known here at Hamilton College died suddenly of his long-time complications with food allergies while he was finishing up his studies at Gordon Conwell Seminary. We are concentrating on building up our collection of spiritual film which includes many feature films, documentaries, and some fantasy material, like the Narnia series and the complete Harry Potter movies.

A sampling of titles from our collection so far:

  • The Ten Commandments
  • 12 Years a Slave
  • The Buddha: A Documentary
  • Romero
  • The Tree of Life
  • The Mission
  • The Truman Show
  • Jesus of Montreal
  • The Decalogue
  • Say Amen, Somebody: Documentary on American Gospel Music
  • I Am
  • Le Grand Voyage
  • Winter Light (Ingmar Bergman)
  • The Passion of the Christ

If you choose to remove a film from the media library, we ask that you sign it out with the chaplaincy staff.

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
