Chinese Summer Immersion Program for Central New York Students
Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, Hamilton College in collaboration with Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES

The Chinese Summer Immersion Program for Central New York Students is designed as a one-week residential camp program. The program aims to provide a rewarding summer immersion experience for 15 highly motivated students.
Program Goals

Provide students a language immersion experience on the Hamilton College campus

Improve students' linguistic proficiency and cultural competency through an outcome-based curriculum, task-based instruction, authentic cultural experience, and individualized one-on-one online tutoring and peer interaction

Develop the interactive distance learning technology to expose students to authentic Chinese language, people, and culture through participatory online learning tools
Eligibility

Participants must have completed 7th grade and taken at least two years of Chinese language instruction

Preference will be given to students who have participated in the Central New York BOCES Program

Students are allowed to participate in the STARTALK summer immersion program for a maximum of 2 years, to allow new students access to the program
Program Cost

STARTALK scholarships will be available for all admitted students

The scholarship will cover program tuition, meals, text material, instructional cost, distance tutorial, and technology support
