Hamilton College has a number of additional plans, programs, and procedures that govern certain activities in the work place. These are either in the form of formal written programs, or links to other College websites, as follows:

This written program is mostly relevant to the Physical Plant, and is concerned with both the control of hazardous energy, and other electrical safety considerations.

Exposure Control Plan

This written plan is relevant to those College departments that have occupational exposures to bloodborne pathogens, and are thereby regulated by the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard. Additionally, this plan describes policies relating to the staging of emergency medical equipment (Public Access Defibrillators) and other personal protective equipment (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation devices). 

This written plan is relevant to those College departments that must use air purifying respirators as a control measure to maintain compliance with established OSHA permissible exposure limits, or as otherwise prescribed by pesticide warning labels.  

 

This written plan is mostly relevant to the Physical Plant, and is concerned with those employees that have regular occupational exposures to hazardous noise above the OSHA threshold of 85 dB(A) over an 8-hour time weighted average. 

 

Hamilton College maintains a fleet of passenger vans to accommodate a wide range of transportation services—from off-campus academic lectures to athletic competitions and various student activities like the Jitney. The College has invested heavily in the safety of its van fleet, both in policy and financially. First in 2003, it barred the use of 15-passenger vans for the transportation of any students for College sanctioned events/purposes. Secondly, the College replaced its entire 15-passenger fleet with statistically safer 12-passenger vans. In addition to these efforts, Hamilton finds it necessary to take additional precautions in order to qualify student drivers/operators of any 12-passenger van. These efforts consist of a 3-step qualification process, including an awareness training class, a driving test, and a screening of each student's driver's license. This process is explained in great detail at the Physical Plant's website, as follows:
