Fund Descriptions


The Joseph F. Anderson Fund

Established by several Hamilton alumni in recognition and appreciation of Mr. Anderson's long-standing association with and commitment to Hamilton College.
  • available only to first years, sophomores and juniors
  • open to all majors and career fields
  • award amount range: $2500- $6000
  • anticipated number of awards: 15-20

The Richard & Patsy Couper Grant

This grant is made possible due to the generosity of the late Hamilton alumnus/trustee Richard Couper, and his wife Patsy.
  • available to all class years
  • preference given to students whose career interests and internship focuses on libraries/library science or museums
  • award amount range: $2000-$4000
  • anticipated number of awards: 1-2

The George & Martha Darcy Internship Support Fund

This fund will provide cost-of-living assistance to students who have insufficient resources to fully support undertaking a full-time summer internship. 
  • available to those who have completed their junior year of college
  • internship will support internships in the following fields:   communications, writing, advertising/public relations, publishing, print journalism, telecommunications
  • applicants must have at least a B average
  • award amount range: will not exceed $3500
  • applicants must clearly demonstrate financial need
  • anticipated # of awards: 1

The Jeffrey Fund Science Internship

The Jeffery Fund for Science Internships will support full-time, summer, off-campus internships related to science, with preference for students who intend to work with organizations committed to either: the humane treatment of animals; conservation; wildlife protection or veterinary care. Applicants from the following disciplines will be considered: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Physics, Neuroscience and Geoscience. The amount awarded will vary from $2,500 up to a maximum of $6,000, depending on individual circumstances.

  • anticipated number of awards: 1-2

The Monica Odening Student Internship & Research Fund In Mathematics

  • available only to first years, sophomores and juniors
  • funding is provided to support off-campus study in mathematics
  • award amount: up to $2800
  • anticipated number of awards: 1-2

The Summer Internship Support Fund

This fund will provide cost of living assistance to students who might have insufficient resources to fully support undertaking a summer internship, including a paid or unpaid opportunity at a for-profit or not-for-profit organization.
  • available to first years, sophomores and juniors
  • applicants must demonstrate financial need
  • award amount range: $3000-$4000
  • anticipated number of awards: 1-2

Class of 2006 Fund

Established in 2006 through the Class of 2006's Senior Class Gift, this fund will provide support for expenses associated with full-time, unpaid, summer student internships, including, but not limited to related transportation, room, and/or board expenses. 
  • available to first years, sophomores and juniors
  • award amount is estimated to be under $1,000
  • proposals need not be limited to the recipient's proposed or intended area(s) of concentration

The Kevin W. Kennedy '70 Internship Fund for the Arts

This fund was established by Amy and John Weinberg to honor Kevin W. Kennedy, studio art major, Class of 1970, upon the occasion of his 60th birthday. 

This fund will provide for individual student internship stipends to help support full-time (at least 240 hours) summer internships in the visual and performing arts, including the studio arts.

  • students must have sophomore or junior class standing at the time of application to be eligible for funding.
  • award amount is estimated to be under $1,500
  • proposals need not be limited to the recipient's proposed or intended area(s) of concentration
