Individual Counseling

Chaplains are available for talking about important things happening in the lives of students and other members of the Hamilton community.

If you are struggling with a relationship, going through a break-up, thinking about marriage, in conflict with your parents, having doubts about the life of faith, wondering about the meaning of life, or just looking to shoot the breeze for a minute or two, we are ready to talk with you about what's on your mind.

Call or email for an appointment, or visit during office hours or just drop by any time. If we happen not to be here when you drop by for a visit, feel free to wait a while. The third floor of the chapel is designed to be a space where you can hang around, spend some time doing homework, or reading from our extensive library in spirituality and religious inquiry, or take a few moments for silent reflection in our meditation room.

Student Grief Support Group

Grief for people in your life who have died takes a lot of different forms, but sometimes it's difficult to find someone to talk to about your loss... especially a few months (or years) after the death has occurred.

A grief support group is planned for each semester for any student who has experienced the death of a loved one--a parent, a sibling, a close friend--and would like the chance to talk about it with other students who have experienced a similar grief.

This is not meant to be a therapy group, nor is it faith-related. It will simply provide a way for students who are grieving to gather together and realize that they are not alone in their grief journey. Jeff McArn and Marianne Skau of the Counseling Center facilitate the group.

Don't forget, we have a Counseling Center for members of the community who are looking for professional psychotherapy. They can be reached at (315)-859-4340
