Students are sometimes referred for a psychiatric consultation when it appears that they might benefit from a medication. Medication in addition to counseling can be helpful when someone is experiencing depression, anxiety, and other psychological issues. In these cases, the Counseling Center may talk with the student about the options for obtaining a psychiatric consultation. Among these options is an initial appointment in the Counseling Center with our consulting psychiatrist, Dr. Neal Borenstein. Additional options include obtaining a referral for a psychiatrist in the student's home area or within the Clinton area. The initial consultation appointment with Dr. Borenstein is free of charge, however, payment for outside psychiatric services is the responsibility of the student. Please contact the Counseling Center to learn more about these services.
