Spring 2008 Tax PreparationHELP SESSIONSInformation sessions will be held in the computer classroom, KJ 220, at 4pm on the following dates:Friday, February 29 Monday, March 3 Wednesday, March 5 Wednesday, March 12 Wednesday, March 26 Tuesday, April 1 YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THESE SESSIONS WITH THE DEAN OF STUDENTS' OFFICE 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE as space is limited. We will help you log-on to CINTAX and enter your tax information. The Dean of Students office does NOT provide professional tax help. We can only help you navigate CINTAX. ON YOUR OWNYou may also use our licensed tax preparation program, CINTAX, on your own. Simply log-on to CINTAX and use the access code you received by email. If you have lost your access code, contact Regina Johnson to have it emailed again. You may access CINTAX from any computer with internet access. Click on "CINTAX" at the top of the page to enter.
WHAT YOU WILL NEEDpassport and visa form I-20 social security number or individual tax identification number address information (US and foreign) US entry and exit dates for current and past trips (within the past five years) to the US Forms W-2, 1042-S and/or 1099 (if received) scholarship or grant letter (if any) a copy of your 2006 income tax return (if you filed one). Your "Academic Institution or Host Sponsor Information" is: Hamilton College, 198 College Hill Road, Clinton, NY 13323; phone 315-859-4022; academic director: Carol Drogus. WHAT IF YOU HAD NO US INCOME IN 2007?You may not need to file an income tax return, but you MUST file Form 8843. You MAY need to file a tax return as well if you received a 1042-s, grant or scholarship letter indicated that you had taxable grant or scholarship money. Use CINTAX to check!
