Mozilla Thunderbird

College-owned computers for employees have Thunderbird installed and configured for the computer's user. If you want to install and configure Thunderbird on your personal computer to access your e-mail please contact the ITS Help Desk.

In March 2007, the College switched from Eudora to Mozilla Thunderbird as its preferred standard for client-based e-mail software.   The Hamilton College web-based e-mail standard remains Sun Java Communications Express.

Beginning in May 2007, all new computers deployed to employees will come pre-configured with Thunderbird. However, rather than wait for a new computer, our recommendation is to convert from Eudora to Thunderbird (if you wish to continue using client-based software for your e-mail). You may also continue to use Eudora or other e-mail software (Mac Mail, Outlook, etc.), however, ITS does not have the resources to fully support these products.

Step-by-step instructions that will guide you through the process of migrating from Eudora to Thunderbird are listed here. The ITS Help Desk staff is also available to assist you in this process.
