Video

If you are considering creating a video or are a faculty member interested in assigning video projects in your course, please email mpc@hamilton.edu or phone 859-4877 (859-ITSS) to discuss options with an Instructional technologist.  Our services may include: video/multimedia assignment design; a video workflow process tailored to project needs; basic videography, language of film, storyboarding for video;and digital video editing, compression, and delivery workshops.
  • In Fall 2006, 73 students created 168 planned digital video based projects with the resources and services provided through Hamilton’s Multimedia Presentation Center (MPC).
  • At 3.6 mb/sec, a one minute video exceeds the storage capacity for students and faculty on SSS or ESS.  We provide storage for video projects planned with MPC professional staff. Academic projects associated with coursework or independent projects are given priority in allocation of storage.
  • Common video projects issues include incorrect camera settings while shooting, lack of storage, compression/export problems, and file management issues
Courses in which all enrolled students will be expected to individually or collaboratively create a video require advance notice and planning with  MPC professional staff or the HILLgroup  to ensure a successful project.  Faculty should contact an MPC instructional technologist early in the semester or prior to the start of the semester to arrange for storage if their students will use MPC resources for video assignments.  We will accept requests for support until our resources are fully committed or we reach a point in the semester when our timeline for support can no longer be executed.
