Personal Dr. Stewart is married to Philip Stewart, the Benjamin E. Powell Professor of Romance Studies at Duke University. They have two children, a daughter who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies at Indiana University, and a son who lives in Prescott, Arizona.
