Clinton is located in upstate New York, about 250 miles (400 Kilometers) from New York City. Because of the distance, Hamilton cannot provide transportation to campus from your point of arrival in the US. Students arriving from overseas must plan to continue from their port of entry in the US (usually John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, Newark Airport, or another large airport) to Syracuse, NY or Utica, NY, where we can provide shuttle transportation to the campus for students arriving on August 14th or August 22nd. College-arranged transportation is only for students whose travel arrangements require international travel. Also, please bear in mind that you may NOT enter the US more than 30 days in advance of the program start date on your I-20 form.
The easiest way to get to Syracuse is to continue traveling by plane. Students should book a connecting flight from their point of entry to Hancock International Airport in Syracuse. The airport in Syracuse is about one hour from the Hamilton campus by car, and with advance notice of arrival, the Dean of Students office can make arrangements for students to be picked up at the airport and transported to the campus on the designated arrival dates.
Students arriving at John F. Kennedy or LaGuardia Airports in New York City may find it a bit less expensive to travel to Utica, NY via bus or train. To do so:
Both the bus and train arrive at the Utica Train Station. If you notify the Dean of Students office in advance of your expected arrival time, we can make arrangements to meet you and transport you to campus.
When your travel plans are set, please notify the Dean of Students Office of your flight number and arrival time in Syracuse, or your anticipated train or bus arrival time in Utica. We want to have the opportunity to meet you at the airport or bus/train station and bring you to campus. Please notify us of your travel plans by Monday, July 15th at the very latest, using the International Travel Arrival Information Form.
