Photo: Heather Schrum was keeping the watch at 8:00 PM ship time when we came out of the Bransfield Basin toward the Trinity Peninsula Shelf. She is plotting our course every 15 mins on standard navigation charts of the region. Hanging to the left of the table are the tidal models provided by Dr. Laurie Padman (Earth & Space Research). These are to be used to help us time the deployment of our CTD, to help capture the tidal flow within the channels that lead into the Erebus and Terror Gulf. This region is the location of the Vega Drift, Emily Backman's ('04) senior project and we hope to recover a long 6 m kasten (box) core at one site, before heading further south toward the Larsen Ice Shelf.
