Tuesday morning finds us at S Latitude 60 degrees 29 mins and W Longitude 48 degrees 56 minutes. Snow is falling, temperature is -8.4 C, winds are moderate at 19 kt out of the south. Our first icebergs drifted by our starboard side at about 6:00 AM and this brute, some distance away, is framed by the starboard A-frame. Snow petrels are all around and are likely from the South Orkney Islands which are now only 50 nautical miles to our port beam. We still have a day transit to our first mooring site and so continue on our southeasterly course. | |
