Divorced or Separated Family Situation

In the case of divorce or separation, we expect the parents will share responsibility for financing their child's education. The student and the parent(s) with whom he or she resides must complete the FAFSA and PROFILE, along with the other required documents (see our Forms and Deadlines page). The student's other natural or adoptive parent will be asked to complete a Non-custodial Parent's PROFILE (for first-time aid applicants) or a Non-custodial Parent's Statement (for renewal aid applicants), and to submit his or her federal income tax returns and W2 form(s). A waiver of the non-custodial contribution may be granted if a letter from a guidance counselor, principal, pastor, or attorney attests to the fact that the non-custodial parent has not been in the student's life for a number of years. Prior to submitting a waiver for the non-custodial contribution you must contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss your situation.
